The term South Asia usually refers to the political entities of the region now known as the Indian subcontinent - the Republic of India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet (now part of China), and the island nations of Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
